Appreciate the Little Things to Succeed

There are endless quotes reminding us to appreciate the little things in life to help motivate. During the season of thanks, appreciate all the small things you do for your health. It is easy to be overwhelmed and even intimidated by the idea of changing life habits to improve health. Using all the small things as building blocks will make the task much easier to tackle both physically and mentally.

“I BELIEVE IN MYSELF”

This is where it all starts. Self-efficacy is a must to achieve any goal. If you don’t think it’s possible for you to succeed, you’ve already failed. This is more than just positive thoughts. Yes, daily affirmations and avoiding negativity maybe the main driver for some. For others, it could be logically dissecting the steps to achieving a particular goal and calculating the possibility of achieving the goal. Just as people learn differently, we also approach challenges differently. No matter how your mind works, in the end, you must believe you can succeed for the goal to be reached.

“I AM GETTING BETTER EVERY DAY”

Here’s where the building blocks happen. Health related goals are all about improving day to day choices and acting on those choices. You choose to workout or choose not to. You choose to have that extra slice of pizza or choose not to. Breaking down ‘getting better’ into the daily little choices may work for you. Others operate differently. It is an all or nothing approach for some. Either way works, but finding what works for you is the idea.

“I AM GETTING CLOSER TO REACHING MY GOAL EVERY DAY”

This builds on the previous quote. Getting better each day can lessen overwhelming feelings and noticing changes sparks this quote. When you feel better or notice changes in your body, that’s when you realize the goal can be reached. This is also when the small changes should be appreciated. Consistently making small steps toward the ultimate goal is how this works. Unfortunately, those that have more of an all or nothing mindset might struggle with this fact. Motivational quotes are great for an instant mood changer.

As you progress toward your goals, appreciate all the little things you’ve done along the way. For those that are looking for instant gratification, it is even more important to appreciate the little things.
