Jacob and Jamie Bode know the value of being active. Together with their three daughters, they are a very active family, and not just in athletics.
“We value a lifestyle of activity, and it’s something we want our girls to know is a priority in life,” said Jamie. “Because it’s not necessarily about the physical look of your body. It’s how you feel and how you treat your body so you can be more productive in the things you’re called to do.”
Originally from Grand Rapids Michigan, the Bodes moved to the St. Louis area 15 years ago. It wasn’t long before they found their way to North Pointe Aquatic Center and The Pointe at Ballwin Commons. About five years ago they officially joined The Pointe as members and agree the facility has been especially beneficial in the winter months.
Both Jacob and Jamie come to The Pointe multiple times each week and almost every weekend, often early in the morning right as the facility is opening. But to them the facility is more than a place to work out, “It’s the perfect place for a family,” Jamie said. “The staff is always very attentive and they know our girls by now, so we always feel safe,” Jacob added.
Going above and beyond their role as members of The Pointe, the Bodes are also sitting in on some long term planning sessions to help create the Ballwin Parks Master Plan. This plan will guide the department in future decision making and help prioritize what upgrades or improvements need to be made to city parks and facilities. “We decided to help with this project because we really see the value of it,” Jacob said. According to Jamie, the family has spent hours and hours at various Ballwin parks and they want to see others benefit from those assets in the future.
Even when they aren’t at The Pointe, this family is always active. Their daughters are involved in athletics from swimming to softball, both Jacob and Jamie are involved in coaching various sports, and traveling is an important piece of their lives as well. Although the Caribbean is one of their favorite spots, they try not to repeat destinations because they enjoy experiencing new places and new cultures.
Jacob works in the Pharmaceutical Contract Research Organization Eurofins which gives him ample traveling opportunities. “It started with him and how much he travels for work. He kind of passed it down to the rest of us, and now we all love traveling,” Jamie said. The Bodes are also very involved in their church, Chesterfield Presbyterian; they play in The Pointe’s Friday night volleyball league; and they participate in Ballwin races and other programs as well.
Thank you Jacob and Jamie for setting an example of what a healthy and active lifestyle looks like and for doing it in such a way that impacts and encourages those around you. Congratulations on being named August’s Members of the Month!
