Latest News & Announcements8.1.18 Ballwin Golf Course Closing Sunday in Preparation of Tournament The Ballwin Golf Course and Club will be closing at noon on Sunday, August 5 to finish maintenance and preparations for hosting the 2018 USGA Senior Amateur Qualifying Tournament. Tournament tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, August 6 and will be spaced ten minutes apart. Spectators are welcome to watch the tournament, but are reminded to be respectful and not interfere with play. In January, the USGA announced over 40 selections for 2018 qualifying rounds for this tournament. The Ballwin Golf Course stands as the lone 9-hole facility on the list to date. This selection speaks volumes of the condition and playability of the Ballwin Golf Course. “The Ballwin Golf Course and Dave Furlong have been big supporters of the U.S.G.A., and the course is in really good condition. It’s a unique endeavor to take a nine-hole course for this sort of event. But we figured, why not showcase one of our nine-hole facilities? They are as much a member of our association as the other courses,” Rohe commented. The tournament will largely attract players in the St. Louis area, but there are players from other states as well including Florida and Tennessee on the finalized 41-person roster. As long as golfers meet the requirements (Age 55+ with a 7.4 handicap), they are eligible for participation. We sat down with a few of the local players to hear about their golfing experience and why they're excited to participate in this tournament. Read their stories on the Golf Course blog.
