6.20.18 City of Ballwin June Newsletter #2

#1 Bear Sighting

On Sunday evening, the Ballwin Police Department responded to a call about a bear sighting in southern Ballwin. The Police Department contacted the Department of Conservation in reference to the matter, but no additional sightings of the bear have been reported. Word of the bear sighting spread quickly, and now the City is "considering" a slight modification to our logo (see image below). 

#2 Ballwin Days

Another successful Ballwin Days event was held in Vlasis Park earlier this month. Crowds gathered for concerts, fireworks, races, rides, games, food and lots of FUN. A big thank you is due to the volunteer committee who organizes this festival for the community and the many sponsors who help make the event possible.

#3 Summer Public Works Projects

The Ballwin Public Works Department continues to improve streets and sidewalks throughout the city during these warm summer days. Currently, crews are replacing concrete on Village Meadows and Kehrs Mill Trail; paving on Sunstone, Windcliffe and Royal Oaks; and installing a drainage pipe on Woods Mill Road. #4 New Businesses

Ballwin is excited to welcome some new businesses to our city.
  • Dollar Tree is located in the Central Plaza at 13932 Manchester Road (next to JOANN Fabrics) and is open for business.
  • All Surface Flooring is located at 14932 Manchester Road Ballwin, MO (near Jet's Pizza) and will open next week.

#5 Board Retreat

On Monday, June 11 the Board of Aldermen held a retreat to talk about city-wide priorities for the next three to five years. Discussion revolved around finding solutions for residents as well as maintaining a responsible budget. Full meeting minutes will be made available after approval at the next board meeting, but a few topic areas that were addressed included economic development, capital equipment investments, technology and possible annexation.

This program gives discounts to Ballwin key fob holders in an effort to support our local businesses. Today's featured business is the Chiropractic Clinic, LLC. When you show your Ballwin key fob, you can take advantage of a free exam and consultation.
