A Ballwin Board of Aldermen meeting was held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 7 p.m. A few highlights from the meeting are below as selected by staff. Official meeting minutes will be posted upon approval after the next Board of Aldermen meeting at which time this post will be updated.
- Chief Scott of the Ballwin Police Department requested board approval to apply for a grant in regards to Traffic Enforcement via MoDot for 2019. The Board approved his request.
- Director of Parks and Recreation Linda Bruer reports of two bids received to install a retractable volleyball net in The Pointe’s gymnasium and recommended the low bidder to the board. The Board approved her recommendation for the purchase.
- City Attorney Bob Jones brought a first draft of a new proposal regarding short term rentals (i.e. Airbnb). Alderman Terbrock started the discussion by asking for other board members’ opinions about lowering the minimum requirement for number of days a resident must occupy a home. Subsequently, the board unanimously voted to lower the minimum number of days a resident is required to occupy their residence as currently listed in the short term rental draft proposal. The minimum was 275 days in one year but that was lowered to 180 days per year.
- The board voted to move forward with the short term rental draft. The next step is to bring it before the Planning and Zoning Commission. This topic will be discussed at the April Planning and Zoning meeting.
- Alderman Bullington reminded the board and community that tomorrow night (1/23/18) is the first of the Ballwin Days planning meetings at The Pointe. They always accept more volunteers, and the meeting begins at 7 pm.
- Congratulations was also given to Alderman Bullington and his daughter Rachel Bullington, a student at Maryville University, who recently qualified for the NCAA DII National Diving Championships.
