The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the individual or department designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive, “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. Ballwin’s Finance Officer Denise Keller, CPFO and the rest of Ballwin’s Finance Department has put a lot of work into preparing the documents required to receive this award. “This is Ballwin’s third consecutive CAFR award. Continuing to receive this award each year is a high priority going forward,” said Keller. Keller has been with the City of Ballwin for five years, and helps ensure accuracy and transparency in budgeting and financial reporting for the City of Ballwin and its residents. The City of Ballwin has also recently received GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2017 budget, marking the second consecutive year of doing so.
