Latest News & AnnouncementsPointe Facility Closure - COVID-19 Update Last Updated 3.16.20 Effective Monday, March 16 at 10 p.m., the City of Ballwin will be closing our community center, The Pointe at Ballwin Commons, in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. As of now, we plan to reopen normal hours on Monday, April 6, but we understand this is a constantly evolving situation. We will rely on recommendations set forth by St. Louis County’s Department of Health, and will continue to monitor the situation and reevaluate as new information becomes available. This is not a decision we take lightly, but are doing so out of an abundance of caution for all guests and City staff. The health and well-being of our community is our primary focus. We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we navigate this unprecedented situation. Furthermore, we have cancelled or postponed the following scheduled, off-site events/programs:
Our staff plans to utilize this time to deep clean our facility and begin our Indoor Pool Maintenance (previously scheduled for August). We will continue to keep you updated as we receive new information. We realize there are a lot of questions, so we hope to answer them below. When will The Pointe reopen? This closure has a preliminary ending date of Sunday, April 5 (meaning the facility would open regular hours on the 6th). However, it is important to note this is tentative and subject to change dependent upon recommendations set forth by St. Louis County. Why is it necessary to close the entire facility? We believe this is the best way to mitigate the spread of the virus. There is currently no way to determine the medical conditions of every guest and no way to screen every “high-risk” individual who enters our facility. What other recreation facilities are impacted? Currently, The Pointe will be the only facility closed to the public. At this time, our Golf Course and community parks are still open to the public, and we will be increasing our cleaning frequency at these locations. Since I am unable to use the facility, what will happen regarding payment? We understand the closing of our facility may be an inconvenience for many and we want to make sure you still get your money’s worth. Therefore, we will be providing the following accommodations for our members:
If I have already registered for an event, will I receive a refund? Yes! You will receive a refund if you’ve registered for any of the cancelled or postponed events listed above. For specific Pointe program information (including swim lessons, Basic Training, etc.) please contact The Pointe directly at (636) 227-8950. Where is the best place to receive updates? Our website is the best place to receive information regarding COVID-19’s direct impact on the City of Ballwin’s facilities, programs, and events. We also share all important updates on our social media pages and through our TextCaster alerts and Email newsletters. However, please utilize the following resources regarding the coronavirus outbreak.
Additionally, St. Louis County has established a hotline number (314-615-2660) if you believe you are symptomatic or have any questions regarding the virus. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services also activated a statewide public hotline (877-435-8411) which is being operated by medical professionals and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
